digital media
week 4, video task
Through the videos below, I can better understand what
digital marketing is. It is a form of digital data that is transported back and
forth through the internet. This data is presented in various forms such as
forms of videos, articles, advertisements, music, podcasts, audiobooks, or
virtual reality. A common point of these forms is that it always has content or
carries a certain meaning. And today this form is quite popular and preferred
on social networking platforms such as Facebook, Google, Instagram.
For a person who wants to be successful in the digital media field, it is necessary to have basic skills. The first is communication skills, on social platforms you need to be flexible as well as fit with all social media sites. and with the audience.
The second necessary skill is writing. While many skills can help get
your message across on social, the core of communication always comes back to
the written word. This skill is a very effective way to turn thoughts into
digital images.
The third is a very important skill that is creativity and
catching up with trends. These days, everything happens very quickly as the
content develops as well as the trends change day by day. Therefore, if we do
not have a separate path, we will always fall behind with the times.
I also saw some differences between traditional media and
digital media. The biggest difference is that while the traditional method will
be transmitted in one direction, digital has two dimensions. With the
traditional, we can only listen, watch, read, and digital. We can interact, we
can ask questions, we can communicate. Digital is also a way for people to
connect from all over the world. The second difference is that the traditional
content is always verified by reputable parties. as well as that of the
government. But with digital, there is always a lot of fake news.
With the message of "The medium is the message" by MCLUHAN, M. (1967), the internet is the medium that conveys messages to people. Instead of the message being conveyed on the pages of books, stones. paper, wood, it's the video and digital images. But today's information seems to have surpassed its limit of control when we must always worry and be wary of the information appearing on social networks. We must always be skeptical and raise doubts. Ask questions about fake information or fabricated information used to attract audiences.
2.
My favourite part of the week 4 video task blog is the third part where they mentioned “creativity” and “catching up with trends”. I liked this part out of all as this wasn’t something I originally thought of “digital marketing”. This piece of writing is very effective as it mentions how “quickly” content changes with time and how it’s necessary to keep up with trends. I think the writer has done well in capturing digital marketing well in there own words. Its very easy to read through and I’m very pleased about it.
Trả lờiXóaThe two questions I have about the topic that wasn’t fully answered in the blog post is expanding more from the third point. I noticed there was a jump from the third point to writing about the differences of traditional and digital media. I was questioning myself of the more ways digital marketing can be approached.
The second question that wasn’t answered was not enough paraphrasing and quotations.
This would have been lovely to see as I would know that you really thought deeply on the matter and I could see the backing up statements of what you are talking about.
I’ve learned that digital marketing can be approached from a trend stand point and that time is always changing with new implementations. I found that a technique that they used all the references with the videos on the blog to convey there point.
What if you added images to highlight the paragraphs to make a stronger and visual statement.
What I liked most about EdThaiLai’s blog post is his layout and referencing technique.
Trả lờiXóaHis blog was nicely divided into paragraphs with referencing to videos from which he got his information from down at the very bottom.
I was left a little bit puzzled as I couldn’t identify any information about the third video that EdThaiLai had referenced in his reference list. Although he used a good referencing technique, I was a little bit confused since I felt like that specific video wasn’t necessary.
What I learned from this blog post is the importance of staying up to date with the latest trends and skills, since new content and technology develops day by day and it will be difficult to understand the world around us if we choose to neglect new information.
I liked the way EdThaiLai included his personal opinion on the topics throughout the blog. This is certainly something I could add into my future blogs.
I think what you could do in your future blogs is leave out the referencing of videos you aren’t going to be using, as this will leave readers with a clearer understanding!
What I found really interesting while reading EDTHAILAI'S blog post is the way his work was laid out into small and separate paragraphs in order to see which points were going to be discussed about next.
Trả lờiXóaThere were many points he outlined in his blog post that I missed out in mine such as " The medium is the message" which in deeper detail means the internet is the medium that conveys messages to the people. While I was writing my own blog post about the difference between the on how traditional media and how digital media works.
I really liked the third point because he explains on why these skills are important when using digital media and it is called creativity and catching up with the trends of today's world we live in. The reason why I believe he mentioned that in his blog post is because the world that we live in this day and age with social media it is very important to keep up with the main headlines and especially the recent trends that people will start supporting. It is very impossible to run away from or even expect new information we see on those platforms to be removed from our screens.
It was very good that he added his own personal opinion throughout his blog rather than copy every sentence from each paragraph which will put people in danger for plagiarizing someone else's work without giving them credit.
His referencing is good but at the same time there was no point at all adding another YouTube
video into the blog without even referencing it because it will confuse the readers and it would not give them a better understanding of where you collected your information from. In my opinion I think it is very important to collect your information from reliable online sources.
