media compression
Welcome to my blog post this week. This week I will be discussing compression.
In fact, I don't know much about this term. ,
week 9, video task
According to the Techquickie channel's video, Video compression is done through a video codec that works on one or more compression algorithms. Usually video compression is done by removing repetitive images, sounds and/or scenes from the video. For example, a video can have the same background, image or sound played multiple times or display data/attach to the video file which is not important. Video compression will delete all that data to reduce the video file size.
After watching these videos, I learned more about something very familiar - compressed audio. And I know more useful information from Qencode channel. When a music or sound is recorded, the sound will certainly not be as uniform as the user wants or in other words, this sound has a large fluctuation in volume! To ensure the regularity of the sound as well as the volume, you cannot ignore the compression effect. So compression is a specialized audio effect to reduce the volume fluctuations of an audio signal! In other words, it will set the average volume for the input audio signal, so that the sound is smoother and more vivid! At the same time, in some cases, this effect also brings special points to your voice.
We must distinguish Codec from Format (container) when you work with data files. To put it simply, the format is the shell / container and the codec is the gut inside that box. So when you come across the same plastic box format (with the same .MOV format) but the things in it (codecs) are different (H.264, ProRES, ...) it is also different.
The most popular codec format that I use most is MP3.MP3 (short for MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3) is a digital audio encoding format, used to create files with a large capacity. is greatly reduced, while the quality remains roughly the same as that shown on a CD player. The main reason why MP3 is so widely used is because of the way it works. It will remove all data containing sounds that the average person cannot hear, then compress the remaining data as much as possible.
I find it quite interesting when a piece of music or sound is recorded for sure the sound will not be as smooth as the user wants or in other words, this sound has a large fluctuation in volume! To ensure the regularity of the sound as well as the volume, you cannot ignore the compression effect. So compression is a specialized audio effect to reduce the volume fluctuations of an audio signal.
